About Janet
How did my journey begin?
I have always been a project manager, artist and designer. CREATIVE was my childhood.
Lucky, I was born on Friday the 13th and on my father’s birthday– I refused to be corrected from being left-handed… I purled when they taught me to knit. Created floor plans when I was told to rake leaves and rearranged furniture when I was told to clean.
Matching those skill sets in college, I pursued a degree in interior design. Upon graduating, a favorite professor said I could sell 'ice to an Eskimo', but I instead chose to move south and sell sunshine to homeowners.
This path has been my joy. My experience includes – working on builders’ models, residential work, drafting assignments, commercial offices and lighting showrooms.
In 2003, I started my own business, On A Whim. In 2014, after 11 years, I expanded my services and education, renaming the business to JPI, Janet Pederson Interiors.
I choose my clients based on a friendly connection. My most successful projects are with people who are looking for a design advocate – The ones that want to take the best of their own experiences and create a meaningful interior. After all, isn’t that what we all want in our homes?
